Entrust Truth to Multipliers

ree

If your ministry depends on one person, it’s fragile. If it depends on many faithful people, it’s unstoppable. Paul gave Timothy a leadership blueprint that still works: “You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others” (2 Timothy 2:2, NLT). That’s not just training—it’s multiplication.

Events inspire, but systems sustain. A church that trains replacements is building a future where the gospel keeps moving even when staff changes, calendars shift, or seasons get busy. Training your replacement isn’t quitting; it’s stewarding.

Paul names it: trustworthy. Look for faithful, teachable, humble people who love Jesus and love people. Talent is helpful, but character carries truth farther. Ask:

  • Do they show up prepared?

  • Do they receive feedback without defensiveness?

  • Do they already serve when no one is watching?

A simple 5-step pipeline you can start with immediately that will help you reach beyond your own potential and build a kingdom minded ministry:

  1. Identify one trustworthy person for each key role (greeter lead, tech director, small group coach, large group host).

  2. Invite them clearly: “I see leadership in you. Would you shadow me for the next four weeks?”

  3. Instruct with bite-sized skills (one checklist, one script, one standard). Keep it simple and written.

  4. Involve them immediately: first as a shadow, then as a co-leader, then leading with you watching, then leading solo.

  5. Inspect & Encourage: After each rep, debrief—What went well? What would make it 10% better? Celebrate progress, not perfection.

Healthy leaders measure success not by how much they do, but by how many they develop. Train your replacement and entrust truth to trustworthy people. When we multiply leaders, we multiply the message—and the next generation learns to do the same.
