Kids Need to hear your God story.

One of the most powerful things a child can hear from a KidMin leader is this:“I needed Jesus too.”

Children often see ministry leaders as people who have always “had it all together.” But when we lovingly share our salvation story, we help children understand something deeply important: salvation is not just for “bad people.” Salvation is for ALL of us because every single one of us needs a Savior.

That does not mean we share inappropriate or graphic details about our past sin. Children do not need the “shock factor.” What they do need is honesty, humility, and hope. They need to hear that before Jesus changed our hearts, we were separated from God too. We struggled too. We sinned too. And Jesus lovingly rescued us.

When leaders share their testimony in an age-appropriate way, it helps children:

  • Understand the Gospel personally

  • Realize they are not alone in their struggles

  • See the transforming power of Jesus

  • Learn that Christians are not perfect people — just forgiven people

  • Build trust and connection with their leaders

Your testimony is not about glorifying your past. It is about glorifying your Savior.

Children connect deeply with stories. When they hear how Jesus forgave you, guided you, comforted you, or changed your life, it makes the Gospel feel real and alive. Suddenly, salvation is not just a Bible lesson from long ago. It becomes a present-day testimony of God’s power.

Never underestimate what God can do through your simple, sincere story. The same Jesus who saved you is still calling children to Himself today. Your testimony may become the bridge that helps a child realize, “If Jesus loves and saves them… maybe He can save me too.”
